Job SummaryThis position serves as Principal Investigator, Co-PI, or lead researcher in the Roadside Safety and Physical Security Division. The incumbent will conduct applied research, manage projects, develop proposals, and facilitate technology transfer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct applied research, including engineering and simulation analyses for roadside safety devices and crash testing.
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and report on research and development projects.
- Perform literature reviews, background research, and data collection to support methodologies.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams of research staff, graduate and undergraduate students.
- Compile, document, and present research results in reports, technical memoranda, and presentations.
- Prepare and submit external‑funding proposals as Principal Investigator, Co‑PI, or key researcher.
- Present research findings to sponsors, clients, and at conferences.
- Coordinate research meetings and documentation.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Department.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in non‑linear finite element modeling and simulation.
- Experience with LS‑DYNA, Hyper Mesh, Solid Works, and related software.
- Proficiency in computer programming and roadside safety design.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong technical writing and analytical abilities.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative teamwork skills.
