What We Want
The Research Technician I performs entry‑level, semi‑skilled, technical support research work involving routine tasks in the Reddy Lab. This is a part‑time position. The salary is commensurate with education and experience. The position is grant‑funded and future employment may be contingent upon funding.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological or biomedical sciences or neuroscience.
- Working experience in a neuroscience EEG research lab; knowledge of advanced brain EEG software; experimental neural techniques and analysis; behavioral studies and interpretation; stereology and histology knowledge; pharmacological studies and data compilation experience in a research lab.
- Ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.
- Experience working with individuals and communities.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret brain EEG recording, analysis and pattern formations.
- Ability to organize, conduct and report pharmacological studies and experiments.
- Experience working with EEG studies, data compilation and analysis.
- Ability to read temporo‑spatial progression of seizures, and behavioral patterns.
- Ability to help research staff with advancing experimental studies and support with the neural techniques.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
- Ensure attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Assists and performs experimental procedures involving brain EEG recording.
- Assists with neuroscience EEG analysis studies.
- Assists with performing technical operations relevant to specialized electrodes and EEG tools.
- Assists personnel involved in a series of stereology and histology studies.
- Assists and performs pharmacological studies and data compilation in the lab.
- Makes and records behavioral observations and EEG recording traces.
- Uses computer equipment for controlling equipment and compiling data.
- Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures.
- Assists with maintaining records on research experiments.
- Assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.
- Participates in training and professional development sessions as needed.
