Heavy Truck Mechanic – Bryan, TX
A leading construction and infrastructure enterprise is actively seeking a skilled Heavy Truck Mechanic to join its team in Bryan, Texas. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment and is passionate about keeping heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment running safely and efficiently.
You’ll be working on a diverse fleet that includes ready‑mix trucks, dump trucks, tractors, and pneumatic trailers, supporting operations that help build communities across the region.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy diesel trucks and trailers.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, suspension, and brake systems.
- Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to guide complex repairs.
- Communicate with drivers and team leads regarding vehicle condition reports and repair updates.
- Operate tools and equipment including welders, hoists, and lifting devices in a safe, responsible manner.
- Maintain organized work spaces and accurately document all maintenance activities.
- Perform oil changes, transmission repairs, brake work, suspension adjustments, and other general maintenance.
- Travel to field locations as needed using company‑provided service vehicles.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
- Participate in a team‑focused environment, assisting others and maintaining a professional, respectful attitude.
- Complete other mechanical duties as assigned.
- Previous experience maintaining and repairing heavy diesel trucks and trailers.
- Technical school certification or relevant trade training is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Own set of hand tools, air tools, and select specialty tools.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and overtime.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and climb in and out of trucks and equipment regularly.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Regular walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
- Ability to grasp tools and perform fine manual work.
- Exposure to outdoor elements, high‑traffic shop areas, fumes, and changing weather conditions.
