Special Education Interventionist

Bryant School District Special Education Interventionist

To provide educational interventions and progress monitoring in reading and math programs to students with mild to moderate disabilities in small groups or individual sessions.

Essential Functions:

• Provide extra assistance to students with special needs
• Supervise students in various settings
• Model tutoring and assisting children
• Enforce administration policies and rules
• Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers
• Observe students' performance and record relevant data
• Present subject matter to students
• Provide disabled students with assistive devices
• Reinforce instructional activities with students
• Assist with the preparation of instructional materials
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information
• Attend professional development and implement strategies
• Attend tram/parent meetings and provide input on student academic strengths and weaknesses
• Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring
• Deliver high quality instruction to move students to grade level proficiency
• Serve on multidisciplinary teams for evaluations
• Order and dispense supplies
• Model the use and care of equipment and materials
• Operate computers and assist students with hardware and software use
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials
• Implement therapeutic activities under the direction of special education staff
• Implement crisis management protocols
• Ride a special education bus to ensure student safety

Skills & Abilities:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in education or related field.

Experience:

Previous experience working with children or adults with disabilities preferred. Computer

Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position. Other Requirements:
Successful completion of pre-employment background checks, Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students and other staff members, Must meet all state and federal requirements for the position.

Work Environment:
This position is predominantly indoors but does involve occasional outdoor duties. The indoor sound level varies from very quiet to moderately loud depending on the activities taking place.
