Position: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER

Special Education Teacher – Arkansas Juvenile Assessment and Treatment Center

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth. Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Special Education Teacher at The Arkansas Juvenile Assessment and Treatment Center (AJATC) in Bryant, Arkansas.

AJATC is a secure residential program for at‑risk male and female youth, located on 110 acres just outside of Little Rock, AR. Through our trained programming for staff, AJATC promotes a normalized high‑school experience, offers a safe environment and provides opportunities for positive change, as well as providing the unlimited potential for achievement and growth for students and staff. Our campus features residential student dormitories, an on‑site school and library, vocational training program, chapel, gymnasium, medical, and an outdoor recreation area.

Pay: Follows an approved Teacher Pay Scale, starting at $50,000 a year and increasing based on level of education and experience.

Responsibilities

A Special Education Teacher will:

  • Work primarily with students in an educational setting delivering a curriculum of Target Teaching methodologies.
  • Track student attendance, maintain student grades, and prepare lesson plans.
  • Assist as needed in the classroom setting.
  • Respond to the needs of students who have a variety of ability levels.
Qualifications
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Hold an active teacher’s certification in Special Education.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test.
  • Pass a search of the child and adult abuse central registry.
  • Be eligible to become an ROP driver, including having a valid driver’s license.
Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
