1. TITLE Paraprofessional A
2. JOB GOAL
To assist in the instruction and care students with special needs in the general education and self-contained classroom to meet goals set in each child's Individual Education Program plan. To assist the special education teacher in meeting the special needs of students with IEPs as outlined by the team.
- Must obtain and maintain a AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required).
- Experience working with school-age children.
- Experience working with children with severe needs.
- Professional development history which shows knowledge concerning students with severe needs.
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Experience with working with students in various levels of instruction.
- Experience working in a reading intervention classroom is a plus
- First Aid/CPR Certification and AED is required (in-person hands on training/certificate)
- Excellent communication skills (written or oral).
- Computer skills in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and student data systems.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear, to use hands to handle or feel objects or controls. The employee occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift/or move up to fifty pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly move about a classroom to monitor students and work closely with them in an variety of settings( on carpet, at the playground).
