Full-time, 12-month administrative position

Position Summary

The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing instructional leadership, maintaining a positive school culture, ensuring scholar success, and overseeing daily school operations. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with staff, scholars, families, and community stakeholders to promote academic achievement, attendance, and a safe learning environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Instructional Leadership
    • Support implementation of curriculum, instructional best practices, and assessment systems.
    • Monitor scholar achievement data and assist in developing improvement plans.
    • Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers.
    • Support professional learning and staff development initiatives.
  • School Culture and Climate
    • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture.
    • Support scholar behavior expectations and discipline procedures.
    • Build strong relationships with scholars, families, and staff.
    • Assist with student recognition programs and school events.
  • Operations and Management
    • Assist with daily campus operations and supervision.
    • Coordinate attendance monitoring and intervention efforts.
    • Support emergency procedures, safety protocols, and crisis management.
    • Help manage schedules, testing programs, and school activities.
  • Family and Community Engagement
    • Communicate regularly with families regarding scholar progress, attendance, and school initiatives.
    • Encourage parent participation in school events and decision‑making opportunities.
    • Serve as a liaison between school, families, and community partners.
  • Staff Support
    • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to address scholar needs.
    • Assist with staff supervision, mentoring, and evaluation processes.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
Qualifications
  • Valid Arizona Administrative Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • Successful teaching and/or educational leadership experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Commitment to scholar achievement and continuous school improvement.

Task List for JH & HS Assistant Principals
  • Organize / Track fundraiser paperwork to be sent through to Sophia and to principal for approval.
  • Field trip approvals
  • Duty Schedule and Enforcement / Teacher communication
  • Tracking Weekly Artifacts of teachers and communication when needed
  • Gradebook checks weekly and communicate with teachers when not in compliance
  • Working with leadership teachers to track data progress & implementation of interventions
  • Updating Calendars / Information on newsletter
  • SPED / 504 meetings when needed as PEA
  • Communication with teachers for fire drills and lock out, secures etc on a weekly basis when needed
  • Work with front office for attendance tracking and parent communication when needed for loss of credit
  • Organizing and calendaring hearing and vision with front office staff
  • Kitchen sink and sub coverage with front office and Marylu/Chris for athletic coverage
  • Coverage of school sponsored events as the representative administrator
  • Work with IB coordinator and Principal to track quarterly benchmarks and hold teachers accountable
  • Targeted teacher evaluations, training will be needed here for AP at JH
