REPORTS TO: Site Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly, 36 hours per week, Tier 2 Benefit Plan
Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies sets aside time for all high school scholars within the school day to organize, prepare, and study. This time, called Independent Studies, is more directive and intentional than a typical study hall. The facilitator of Independent Studies class works with scholars individually as questions arise and guides the class in an atmosphere that is productive and helpful.
The ideal candidate is working on a degree and is interested in possibly building their career with Odyssey upon the completion of their work.
- Determine seat assignments for scholars in the classroom
- Take attendance daily
- Enforce classroom rules and regulations per the OI Handbook
- Maintain high classroom standards and conduct for all scholars
- Enforce scholar dress code
- Report any conduct concerns to HS Dean and Principals
- Promote the proper use and care of school property and appropriate use of technology
- Authenticate student requests to go to teachers' prep periods for individual help when appropriate
- Communicate with teachers and scholars information on struggling scholars to help facilitate work completion
- Keep track of the location of each scholar assigned to their IS class each period
- Maintain a positive learning environment and help students with questions
- Maintain confidentiality of privileged information
- Take precautions to ensure scholar safety and does not leave scholars unsupervised
- Demonstrates professionalism
- Skillfully manages individual, group, and organizational interactions
- Communicates effectively using verbal, listening, and writing skills
- Averts problem situations and helps resolve work-related conflicts
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual
