In Middle School Literature and Composition courses, you have the opportunity to engage students in an exploration of grammatical structures, literary devices, and the art of argument. In addition, you will guide students in discussing literature and poetry, which provide beautiful examples of language that convey the heart of the human experience.
Roles and Responsibilities- Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
- Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
- Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
- Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
- Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
- Certification is not required for general education
- All majors are welcome
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
Travel required:
May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
