COMPENSATION:
Teacher Salary - This position is fully funded by the FY26 SEI Budget-Comprehensive Grant. Continuation beyond the  school year is contingent on future grant funding and district need

PURPOSE:

The SEI TOSA is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. The SEI Teacher will deliver targeted English language instruction aligned to the approved SEI Model to meet the needs of English Learners (ELs). This position is funded through the Arizona Department of Education’s FY26 SEI Budget-Comprehensive Grant and is intended to provide incremental support beyond existing staffing to improve EL student outcomes.

This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with Buckeye Elementary School District policies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate
  • Minimum Education Bacholars
  • Valid AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement, ESL or bilingual endorsement required
  • Experience working with English Learners preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of second language acquisition
  • Ability to work independently and supervise educational systems
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with students,

staff and community

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Evidence of ability to effectively use technology to perform duties
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

  • Knowledge and command of grades/subject specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation and feedback techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate student progress and course curriculum.
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate plans.
  • Ability to manage the classroom.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform functions from written and oral instructions and from observing and listening to others.
  • Ability to evaluate written materials to include written assignments and tests.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Skill in promoting learning and ensures safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide daily, targeted instruction in English language development using the district’s SEI Model to students in grades K-8.
  • Implement research-based instructional practices and scaffolded strategies to support English Learners in accessing core academic content.
  • Monitor student progress through formative assessments and adjust instruction to meet language acquisition goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to integrate language supports across content areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and instructional services in compliance with state and federal requirements.
