Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business partners (e.g., Claims, Underwriting, Product) to support pricing, filings, and profitability work; ask questions to understand how assigned work ties to business priorities
- Support actuarial analyses for assigned lines (e.g., workers’ compensation and/or commercial auto), including data preparation, basic rate level indication support, trend summaries, and segmentation studies
- Support rate and regulatory filings by assembling exhibits, summaries, and supporting documentation; ensure results tie out and are review-ready
- Use actuarial techniques and available tools (e.g., Excel, data extraction/query tools, internal systems) to extract, validate, manipulate, and analyze data, with hands‑on support and review
- Complete assigned tasks accurately within established timelines; communicate questions, issues, or delays early
- Maintain clear documentation and work papers so another analyst can understand, recreate, and review the work product
- Perform peer review of other assistant/analyst work as assigned, focusing on basic checks (reasonableness, tie‑outs, completeness, and documentation)
- Participate actively in team and department meetings by asking questions, sharing observations, and providing status updates as needed
- Pursue ongoing professional development through consistent progress toward actuarial exams
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, or related field
- At least 1‑2 CAS exams are strongly preferred
- Prior internship or relevant P&C pricing experience are a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability of results
- Ability to communicate results and assumptions
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and model results
- Results‑oriented with the ability to adjust priorities when necessary
- IT and statistical skills are highly valued
- Knowledge of SQL is preferred; VBA & Python skills are a plus
Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities in actuarial analyses, including data preparation and rate level indication support, while effectively communicating results and assumptions. Proficient in using statistical tools and techniques to ensure accuracy and reliability in pricing and regulatory filings.
