Job Summary

The RN's practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN records patients' medical history and symptoms, helps perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and assists with patient follow‑up and rehabilitation. The RN establishes or contributes to a care plan that includes medication administration, IV line management, therapy delivery, patient observation, and physician consultation.

The RN educates patients and families on illness management, home care, diet, nutrition, exercise, and medication self‑administration. The RN provides direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, delegates appropriately, supports clinical knowledge advancement, precepts new staff and students, and enhances knowledge of nursing management.

• Collect and analyze health data systematically, prioritizing collection based on the patient’s condition and involving family.
• Use nursing diagnoses to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care plans that are family‑centered, developmentally and age‑appropriate, and culturally relevant.
• Identify individualized expected outcomes and create evidence‑based, continuity‑of‑care plans.
• Implement interventions, initiate treatments, medications, and emergency or resuscitative measures per standing orders, policies, and procedures.
• Deliver nursing care that addresses physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio‑cultural needs of patients and families.
• Document observations, interventions, therapeutic measures, monitoring data, and other relevant information in a retrievable format.
• Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the care plan to sustain and improve patient outcomes.
• Assess own nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, regulations, and departmental policies, maintaining current practice knowledge.
• Integrate ethical principles and enhance cultural competence.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, patients, families, and other healthcare providers to plan and deliver patient care.
• Develop evidence‑based standards of care, identify improvements, and participate in research and evidence‐based practice initiatives.
• Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost factors when planning and delivering patient care, utilizing resources efficiently.

• Associate, Diploma, or Certificate:
  All staff must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire OR have 5 or more years of RN experience (direct or indirect) at time of hire. (Required)
• Associate or Diploma in Nursing:
  All staff with direct responsibility for stroke patients must review the stroke‑specific addendum prior to starting. (Required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN):
  Preferred.

• Other: >10 months in med‑surg or acute specialty setting. (Required)
• 1 year RN experience for all float positions. (Required)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – certification in BLS training course C and unit‑specific certification as required by specialty area DOP. (Required)
• Registered Nurse (RN) – State or Compact State licensure in Arizona. (Required)
• National certification for unit‑specific patient population. (Preferred)

Bonus available. The shift is 0700‑1930. The Telemetry Unit-3N/3W is located at Four Peaks Medical Center – 1301 S Crismon Rd, Mesa, AZ 85209.
