Your Role at a Glance
Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer L1 is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with a site security team. This role works closely with the Data Center Operations Team (DCOPS) to ensure that security measures are in place and functioning properly. The Security Officer Level 1 is an experienced client‑facing security officer who employs clear and concise communication to protect personnel, company property, manage access control, monitor CCTV systems, respond to incidents, and complete written reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure that employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company‑issued identification.
- Patrol assigned posts on foot to maintain visibility and observe possible unusual activity.
- Provide a safe and professional work environment for the client, its associates, and NTT Data Center personnel.
- Monitor and maintain security technologies, including CCTV and access‑control systems.
- Investigate, address, and report security, maintenance, and safety conditions.
- Maintain daily administrative documentation, including Shift Activity Reports, Incident Reports, Shift Passdown Logs, and related written documentation.
- Adhere to NTT Data policy, security procedure manuals, and company policies.
- Assist personnel with security‑related requests.
- Complete assignments related to access‑control audits, combustible audits, badge discrepancy audits, as directed by supervisory/management staff.
- Assist with Shipping and Receiving tasks as necessary, including accepting, logging, and tracking shipments when the primary S&R Officer is unavailable.
- Respond to all site emergencies and coordinate with local emergency services.
- Investigate and report fires, evacuations, hazardous situations, and other facility‑related events.
- Maintain familiarity with Security procedures and company policies.
- Thoroughly investigate all security‑related accidents/incidents, interview witnesses, complaints, and victims.
- Provide guidance on security processes and protocols to ensure compliance.
- Ensure regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Experience with standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment for the security team.
- Strong observation and surveillance skills to detect and respond to security threats effectively.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
- Ability to remain calm in an emergency.
- Excellent customer service in a client‑facing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors, and coworkers.
- Ability to operate in a rigorous process‑driven team environment.

- High School diploma or GED required.
- Additional education or training in security‑related fields is a plus.
- At least one year in a security role, or equivalent combination of education and professional background.
- Prior experience in a Data Center or similar environment is a plus.
- Prior experience in administration and operation of access‑control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, photo‑, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and reliability in fulfilling security responsibilities.
- Active certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO) required; certifications must be obtained within six months of commencement and maintained throughout employment.
- Primarily walking, standing, and bending; some sitting.
- Ability to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to hear, speak, and use telephone and walkie‑talkie.
- Effective verbal, visual, and listening communication skills.
