Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician in the Maintenance department is primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of automated equipment to support operations at Cardinal IG, a world-class glass fabricator known for providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry. Essential functions include adhering to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines, ensuring high-tech glass fabrication equipment is operating properly, strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain productive working relationships across departments, ensuring open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor, transporting tools and materials throughout the plant to support maintenance activities, operating drill presses and other maintenance shop equipment;
fabricating parts as needed, changing out barrels and drums, as needed, performing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and production machinery, troubleshooting malfunctions and completing repairs using diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications, performing electrical repairs involving motors, controls, and other equipment, diagnosing equipment failures and technical issues, identifying faulty operations, and recommending solutions to the Maintenance Manager, inspecting parts for defects or excessive wear and performing maintenance, installation, repair, replacement, and alignment of equipment and components, maintaining technical knowledge by attending trainings, educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and developing professional networks, developing expertise and assisting the team in mastering PMWare, while implementing and managing Cardinal PMWare, using maintenance resources, equipment, and supplies effectively to achieve job results, applying sound judgment in daily decision-making and actively contributing to overall team effectiveness and performance, using PLCs to troubleshoot equipment issues and modify equipment programs as needed, participating in and supporting installation, operation, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the machine and equipment functions according to specifications, test-running repaired machines and inspecting completed installations to ensure proper operation and conformance to design specifications and safety standards, assisting and overseeing large maintenance projects, performing housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area, assisting the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives, ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail.
Workplace Environment:
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects. Noise levels can be high and will vary based on the location in the plant.
Note:
A baseline audiogram will be completed and may require yearly maintenance testing provided by Cardinal Glass Industries.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years or older. Minimum of 3 + years of experience in Maintenance working on high-tech automated equipment required. Industrial maintenance experience, robotics, and automation systems required. Electrical experience required. Experience working with tools and mechanical equipment required. PLC experience preferred. Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge. Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment. Ability to read and follow electrical and mechanical schematics.
Physical Ability:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods. Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Ability to climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, and access confined spaces. Use hand and power tools requiring strong grip strength, manual dexterity, and fine motor coordination.
