Driver Service Specialist (Transportation)

Job Summary:

Ensure drivers have accurate, timely information so loads can be delivered in a safe, timely manner. Resolve driver delivery issues and communicate these to Customer Service and Dispatch Managers. Update computerized programs with current information. Communicate any new loads to drivers. Primary duties include the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

• Assist drivers with customer service problems such as needing appointments, problem booking or pins, containers not available, wrong ports, overweight containers. Advise Duncan & Son Lines' Customer Service of issues via e-mail so customers can be notified.
• Assist drivers with over the road breakdowns and tire repairs using assistance from shop personnel or tire repair policy handbook.
• Check the availability of pending loads to cover available drivers.
• Dispatch available loads using the Import and Export Spreadsheets to available drivers.
• Ensure that direct and Last Free Day containers are handled first.
• Find drivers to dispatch loads that have to be re-dispatched due to driver breakdown or delays.
• Check terminal systems to ensure hot loads are being out gated - allow time to find other available drivers to dispatch if needed.

Monday Through Wednesday 2 PM - 12 AM, Saturdays 7 AM to 4 PM.

$45,500 (Annualized)

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including extensive use of spreadsheets.
• Must possess excellent telephone communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently, with little direct supervision, and at a fast paced environment.
• Must be able to remain calm in high pressure situations.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
