Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to obstetric patients in a dedicated Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring maternal and fetal safety throughout the perinatal period. Deliver direct patient care and support during labor, delivery, and postpartum.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and monitor medications, including mag, insulin, pitocin, and others specific to obstetric care.
- Perform patient assessments, including fetal monitoring, vital signs, and labor progress.
- Circulate during C-sections when necessary, ensuring sterile technique and procedural support.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including physicians, midwives, and RTs, to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient information accurately in EMR systems, adhering to privacy and safety standards.
- Assist with neonatal stabilization and transport as needed, supporting nursery and postpartum care.
- Valid registered nurse licensure with state licensing authority.
- C-section experience, including circulating C-sections, is required.
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate FHM certifications certified and current.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, with flexible call responsibilities.
- Experience with EMR systems such as EPIC and Centricity FHM.
- Knowledge of obstetric patient care, including high-risk pregnancies, multiple gestations, and VBACs.
- Enhance expertise in high-acuity obstetric nursing within a dedicated unit.
