American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of experience, night shift availability, and active certifications including TNCC.
Details- Work setting is an acute care hospital Emergency Department with 8 main ER beds, 2 trauma bays, and 1 decontamination room
- Averages approximately 42 patients per 24-hour period in the ER
- Common diagnoses include COVID, chest pain, abdominal pain, psychiatric presentations, stroke, and trauma
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 in the ER
- 12-hour night shifts with start times of 7p or 11p; schedules are set 4 weeks at a time, one month in advance
- Every‑other‑weekend requirement;
Saturday and Sunday are considered weekend shifts for all shift types - No floating outside of the ER
- EMR system is Epic
- Phillips telemetry monitors are used (hard‑wired in rooms and at the nurses' station)
- Ventilator management is part of the role; respiratory therapy is available in‑house 24/7
- RNs are responsible for drawing their own lab work; no IV team on site
- Pharmacy closes at 5:30 PM; after‑hours medication access is through Pyxis
- 13-week contract with 12‑hour night shifts
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
- BSN is not required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration
- Two references required: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (if permanent employment within the last 12 months, one supervisor reference must be from that facility)
- Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration
- Orientation consists of 3 preceptored shifts on the assigned night shift
- A house supervisor is available 24/7; a charge nurse is present for at least 12 hours per day; travelers will not be placed in the charge nurse role
- One in‑house security guard is stationed in the ER
- Holiday coverage is worked into the permanent staff holiday rotation
- Scrub color is navy blue; undershirt must be white, black, navy, or gray; scrub jackets are optional but must be navy if worn
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying; cumulative time worked within the WVU system may not exceed one year before a 2-year break is required
