American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Mother Baby unit requiring 2 years of experience and the ability to circulate C-sections.

• Acute care hospital setting in the L&D/Mother Baby unit
• 8 total beds: 4 labor beds and 4 postpartum beds, with 2 labor beds interchangeable as triage beds
• Nursery has 8 crib capability with stabilization and transport for higher acuity needs
• Approximately 350 births per year (25-30 births per month)
• Patient population includes gestational ages 20 weeks and up, with exposure to mag, insulin, pitocin, multiples, and VBACs
• Typical ratios are 1:1 for L&D and 1:4 for postpartum couplets
• Uses Centricity FHM system for fetal monitoring and Epic for charting
• 12-hour day shifts )
• Weekend requirement of at least 2 weekends per month (Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun days)
• Potential for low or high census on-call assignment, which may occur rarely or weekly
• Floating to Med Surg or ER as helping hands may be required for those comfortable, while remaining available for deliveries
• Charge nurse role is reserved for permanent staff only
• OB tech coverage available 8am-midnight but not overnight (12am-7am)
• Providers and Nurse Midwives are on-call and available in-house as needed
• RT is in-house 24/7 across the facility
• Pharmacy is available on-site until 5:30pm with after-hours support through UHC Pyxis

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Ability to circulate C-sections required, as staff may need to assist if the OR team is not yet present
• Must provide an unexpired driver's license copy for consideration

• Provide direct patient care across labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
• Be prepared to care for patients of any gestational age and manage high-risk conditions
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts with a preceptor
• Scrubs are provided
• Work is incorporated into the permanent staff holiday rotation
• Occasional overflow patients from Med Surg or CCU may be received depending on room availability
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify as a traveler for this position
• Previous WVU Medicine employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying as a traveler
• Travelers are limited to a maximum of 1 year cumulative work within the WVU system, followed by a required 2-year break
