CDL – Ready Mix Truck Driver
The concrete mixer truck driver safely operates a vehicle designed to manufacture, deliver, and unload ready‑mixed concrete to customer‑specified locations. The driver receives direction and work assignments from the designated dispatcher/plant supervisor. Deliveries are made to job sites with difficult and congested unloading points. Work hours vary daily according to customer demand for product and services. Other duties may include truck and plant cleanliness, which will require shoveling/sweeping.
A minimum of a class B CDL will be required.
Our driver safely and efficiently completes all assigned deliveries, maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)- Works safely and efficiently.
- Maintains work area and vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
- Complies with all OSHA and USDOT/FMCSA safe‑operating practices.
- Uses PPE supplied to you as directed.
- Operates ready‑mix concrete truck to deliver to construction sites as specified, obeying applicable laws and dispatch instructions.
- Maintains communication with dispatcher or plant supervisor regarding deliveries. Checks delivery tickets for special instructions and completes as required.
- Frequent climbs of 8‑foot ladders to ensure proper loading of materials, obtaining required signatures, and handling 50‑pound mixer chutes safely. Adds admixtures to drum when necessary.
- Maintains cleanliness of the truck, including rinsing drum before and after deliveries.
- Collects money from customers and records transactions on customer receipt.
- Reads receipts, writes details on tickets, and records customer information.
- Responds to customer questions related to basic product knowledge and concrete instruction.
- Performs pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of vehicle to ensure safe operation and reports maintenance or repair issues.
- Utilizes tablet and computer skills; follows GPS and reads map books.
- Performs other functions as necessary, including truck or plant maintenance, dumpster cleaning, sweeping, shoveling, and yard work, while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Displays a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Is willing to work nights and weekends as required.
- Works in a safe and efficient manner without supervision.
- Strictly adheres to Central Supply Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Willing to work in a team environment and assists co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Works independently when needed.
- Exhibits timely and regular attendance as an expectation of performance for all employees.
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment as required by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required includes: gloves, hard hat, reflective vest, safety (hard‑toe) shoes, and seatbelt.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education and Experience- High school diploma preferred or equivalent; or minimum one year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Applies common sense to carry out simple one‑ or two‑step instructions; handles standardized situations with minimal variables.
- Deals with stressful situations while meeting scheduled customer service demands and handling on‑the‑job customer complaints during deliveries.
