At Hord Family Farms, our success relies on our people and processes. We're currently seeking Fleet Maintenance Specialist
. The ideal candidate is a diesel mechanic with experience in semi and large truck repair to assist in the maintenance and repair operations of our vehicle fleet.
The Hord family is in its 5th generation of family farming, with over 100 years of farming heritage. Headquartered in North Central Ohio, Hord Farms is a pig, cow, and grain farm. We strive to raise our animals with care and utilize modern and advanced farming practices to be efficient and sustainable.
A Day in the LifeThis key intermediate-level position is responsible for performing repairs and preventive maintenance with limited supervision in a timely and efficient manner. The focus of this role will be on a broader range of duties, more technically complex tasks, and setting an example of professional efficiency, occasionally providing technical directions to less experienced maintenance specialists to ensure production operations continue uninterrupted. All scheduled projects will be completed by the timeline and meet the quality standards of the company.
Those in this position must also effectively work with production and other repair and maintenance staff to maximize quality and productivity.
Job Duties
- Inspect, maintain and repair diesel engines and related systems (brakes, transmissions, steering, exhaust)
- Diagnose issues using computerized diagnostic tools and interpret failure codes
- Perform overhauls and replace/refurbish parts as needed
- Conduct DOT annual inspections and ensure compliance with all safety standards
- Test drive vehicles post-repair to confirm performance and reliability
- Complete required documentation for repair orders; parts and materials procurement
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and implement improved equipment opportunities, with a focus on preventing minor issues from escalating into major problems
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- A certificate in Automotive & diesel Technology, along with 1-3 years of diesel engine repair or maintenance experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a drive for excellence
- Display a high level of respect to team members and communicate effectively
- Willingness to learn and carry out complex instructions effectively, with a strong attention to detail
- Impeccable record of reliability/dependability, with the ability to work under limited to moderate supervision
- Desire and ability to work in a physically strenuous environment
- Organizational, time management, and computer skills
- Clean driving record
