Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Senior Estimator - Earthwork / Heavy Civil in Buda

We are looking for a true Senior Estimator to lead our earthwork and heavy civil estimating efforts. The ideal candidate has proven experience estimating large-scale excavation projects and understands how the work is actually built in the field.

This role is not limited to producing estimates. The Senior Estimator will help evaluate incoming ITBs/RFPs, decide which opportunities are worth pursuing, assign bid priorities to the estimating team, and lead the excavation estimating process from initial review through final proposal. This person must be able to manage a high volume of bid opportunities while maintaining accuracy, discipline, and accountability across the team.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for developing complete, accurate estimates covering scope, schedule, cost, risk, and execution approach. This requires reviewing civil drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, addenda, site conditions, and bid requirements, then building a clear plan for how the work will be performed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

The right candidate must be able to think through means and methods, not just produce numbers. This includes understanding sequencing, access, production rates, equipment selection, trucking, material handling, disposal, unsuitable soils, rock, dewatering, utility conflicts, and other real-world field constraints.

You will present estimates to leadership with full confidence in your numbers, supported by clear assumptions, takeoff backup, vendor/subcontractor quotes, and a defensible approach. This is not a “black box” estimating role. We expect you to know exactly how and why your numbers work.
