Description
The Field Mechanic is responsible for providing general mechanic support to ensure efficient services are provided to all internal and external customers.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities- Performs basic to intermediate automotive repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting diagnoses of equipment malfunctions and failures with little or no direct supervision, at the Niece location or onsite with customers.
- Removes and installs parts, disassembles and assembles components to factory specifications
- Tests, adjusts, and verifies proper operations of all repairs and maintenance
- Prepares and completes all job-related documents, including but not limited to service reports and work orders, efficiently and timely
- Maintains service vehicle inspection records
- Develops a plan for assigned repairs and keeps rework to a minimum
- Adheres to all safety policies and company procedures, including but not limited to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
- Maintains all equipment, tools, and vehicles in good, clean working condition.
- Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area
- Ensures adequate inventory for mechanic service needs, including notifying of inventory reordering needs in a timely manner
- Collaborates with the Service Manager and other internal team members to ensure efficient communications and services are consistently delivered to exceed customer expectations
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical repairs, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and making repairs on vehicles, trailers, generators, etc.
- Ability to adhere to established safety policies and all required local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Skill and ability to use diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and computer systems
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain precise standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or related field preferred
Experience1-2 years of experience in an equivalent role preferred
Additional RequirementsValid driver's license and related insurance; acceptable driving record
Must pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
Must be able to travel to perform job duties onsite with customers
Must have personal tools; specialized tools will be provided
