Compensation: $150,000 - $165,000 + Bonus

Company DescriptionOur manufacturing client is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee the accounting operations of a $250M organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this hands‑on role will lead a team of two accounting professionals while playing a key role in the company's continued growth. This opportunity offers exceptional visibility, leadership exposure, and a path for advancement into a VP-level position.
The ideal candidate will possess progressive accounting leadership experience within the manufacturing industry and a proven ability to drive process improvements, financial accuracy, and team performance.

- Lead the full close cycle on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and consolidated reporting packages delivered on a structured reporting timeline.
- Prepare and review internal financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting packages, ensuring results are explained and interpreted, not just reported.
- Own and maintain the SOX‑compliant internal control environment, including documentation, testing support, and remediation of control deficiencies to ensure ongoing audit readiness.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audit activities, coordinating requests, resolving findings, and ensuring timely closure of audit issues.
- Oversee standard costing processes, including cost builds, annual updates, and ongoing maintenance of accurate product costing across SKUs and BOM structures.
- Ensure integrity of inventory and work‑in‑process accounting, including valuation, cycle counts, physical inventory execution, reserves, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Analyze manufacturing, labor, overhead, purchasing, and margin variances, identifying root causes and partnering with operations to drive corrective actions and profitability improvements.
- Act as a finance business partner to operations and leadership, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and AOP planning while translating financial results into actionable business decisions.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, leveraging technology and emerging tools (including AI where applicable) to streamline reporting, accelerate close, and improve information flow.
- Lead and develop the accounting team while strengthening organizational scalability, and evaluate capital investments and post‑implementation results while communicating financial insights clearly to cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related degree
- Manufacturing industry experience is required.
- Progressive accounting leadership experience is required.
- CPA license is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams, business leaders, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
