Our client, a cosmetics/personal care company, is looking for a Facilities Engineer to join their growing team in Buena Park, CA!
Job type: 6-month contract - hire
Schedule: 10
-15 hours weekly
Location: Buena Park, CA (not fully onsite)
Position Summary
The Facilities and Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization's physical facilities and equipment. This role ensures that all infrastructure is safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient while supporting manufacturing and operational needs. The engineer will manage building systems, oversee projects, and develop preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee facility upgrades, renovations, and construction projects from planning through completion.
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance of equipment and building systems.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, building codes, clean room standards, and other applicable legal requirements.
- Manage facility-related budgets, including maintenance, repairs, utilities, and capital improvements.
- Coordinate with external contractors, vendors, and service providers for specialized maintenance and project work.
- Conduct regular facility inspections, identify deficiencies, and prepare reports documenting maintenance activities and corrective actions.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations involving facility infrastructure or critical equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational needs and ensure facilities meet organizational requirements.
- Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, equipment servicing, and facility modifications.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and deionized water tank systems.
- Hands-on familiarity with manufacturing and processing equipment such as mixing tanks, homogenizers, transfer pumps, product filling tanks, and filling heads.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve facility, equipment, and infrastructure issues efficiently.
- Proven ability to plan, manage, and execute facility-related projects.
- Working knowledge of clean room regulations and standards (ISO 3 to ISO
7). - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams, contractors, and management.
