Project Geologist

Summary

This role leads environmental remediation and site investigation projects as a Project Geologist/Environmental Project Manager. You will own technical reports end-to-end, manage multiple projects, and coordinate field programs and subcontractors. This execution-focused position reduces senior workload, prevents delays, and ensures high-quality, on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

+ Lead remediation projects (soil, groundwater, vapor, petroleum-impacted sites, including gas stations)

+ Own environmental reports from data collection through final submittal

+ Interpret field and lab data into clear conclusions and recommendations

+ Manage multiple projects (scope, schedule, budget, deliverables)

+ Plan and oversee field programs (sampling, investigations, testing)

+ Coordinate internal teams, clients, and subcontractors

+ Drive work independently with minimal oversight

+ Support senior staff by taking ownership of reporting and execution

+ Maintain organized project documentation and communicate progress/issues

+ Identify risks early and keep projects on track

Essential Skills

+ 5-10+ years environmental consulting (4+ if strong project ownership)

+ Hands-on remediation experience (soil, groundwater, vapor, petroleum)

+ Strong knowledge of remediation lifecycle and Phase II/reporting

+ Proven report ownership and advanced technical writing skills

+ Project management experience across multiple priorities

+ Gas station/petroleum site experience

+ Field sampling experience (groundwater, soil vapor, soil)

+ Strong data interpretation and decision-making skills

+ Ability to work independently and communicate clearly

+ Bachelor's in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field

+ Willingness to travel/perform fieldwork (10-20%)

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buena Park, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.10 - $55.00/hr.
