Knott’s Scary Farm is the longest-running and most haunting Halloween theme park event in Southern California. For the 53rd year, we’re creating nightmares, unimaginable scares, and innovative thrills. At Knott’s Scary Farm, we leave no tomb unearthed, no crypt un-rattled, and no fear untouched.

Knott’s Farm is casting versatile and physically expressive performers of all types to bring Halloween entertainment to life for Knott’s Scary Farm. Performers should be adaptable, quick-thinking, and comfortable improvising while maintaining character for extended periods of time in a highly immersive environment. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, reliable, and available to attend all required orientations, training sessions, rehearsals, and event dates.

Mandatory training dates will be provided at the time of audition. We are committed to casting a diverse group of performers representing a wide range of identities, backgrounds, and experiences.

To be considered for a talent position, applicants must submit an application and attend an audition. Please note that attending an audition does not guarantee employment with Knott’s Scary Farm. This role is compensated at a rate of $16.90/hr.

In-person Monster auditions will be hosted at Knott’s Berry Farm throughout the month of June.

Select audition dates are reserved for returning talent. Applicants must have an audition reservation to attend. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Come to the audition dressed ready to move and act like a monster, but please come dressed as yourself…

Responsibilities
  • Uses creativity and common sense while startling and scaring guests in a safe and effective manner that utilizes performance techniques taught in training
  • Works as a member of a team to achieve overall atmosphere and goals set by Entertainment leadership and show directors
  • Consistently performs role as scripted and/or conceived
  • Remain in character while 'on‑stage” and in view of guests and interact with guests while performing in a professional and artistic manner
  • Utilizes a variety of props and noise makers to support the guests scare experience in a safe manner
  • Performs vocalizations such as, grunts, groans, growls, screams, and other monster noises to contribute to the assigned character
  • Maintains changes in posture, walk, body movements, and physical presence to enhance character believability
  • Provides guest service according to Six Flags standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions, and giving accurate directions
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Six Flags Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements that include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Fulfills Scary Farm’s attendance requirements as outlined in the Six Flags attendance policy
  • Adheres to the Six Flags Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
  • Availability to work all assigned Scary Farm training and event dates (Thursday‑Sunday) which includes weekday/weekends nights and holidays. Some shifts start as early as 3pm and some shifts go as late as 3am
