Join Linden Oaks School as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and play a vital role in supporting students with complex medical and behavioral needs in a structured, supportive educational environment.
As an LVN at Linden Oaks, you will serve as the on-site school nurse, ensuring safe medication administration, supporting student health plans, and responding to medical needs throughout the school day. You will work collaboratively with families, school staff, licensed providers, and district nursing teams while operating independently within your scope of practice.
What You’ll DoStudent Health & Medical Support
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, parent/guardian authorization, and school policies
- Maintain accurate and timely Medication Administration Records (MARs) and health documentation
- Monitor students for medication effects, side effects, and changes in condition; report concerns appropriately
- Provide nursing care for students with medical needs including seizure disorders and G-tubes in alignment with individualized health plans
Emergency Response & Safety
- Respond to on-campus medical incidents and emergencies; activate 911/EMS when appropriate
- Document all medical incidents thoroughly and in compliance with school and regulatory standards
Coordination & Compliance
- Coordinate with families, providers, and pharmacies to obtain and update medical orders and documentation
- Maintain a compliant and organized medication room, including proper storage, labeling, and tracking
- Support implementation of student health plans and school-wide health procedures
- Collaborate with education staff, behavior teams, and administration to support student safety and well-being
Regulatory & Scope Expectations
- Perform all duties within LVN scope of practice per California BVNPT regulations
- Adhere to California Education Code §49423 related to medication administration in schools
- Follow all California Department of Education (CDE) guidance for Non-Public Schools (NPS)
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and FERPA confidentiality requirements
- Active California LVN license in good standing
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Demonstrated experience with medication administration and MAR documentation
- Experience with pediatric and/or special needs populations (preferred)
- Experience with G-tube care and seizure management (required)
- Knowledge of school health regulations and medication policies (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to maintain compliance in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
