Position: Exterior Wood Construction Worker (Framing)

Job Title:

Exterior Wood Technician (Construction)

This role focuses on exterior refurbishment work at a residential complex, including patching stucco, replacing exterior wood components as needed, and performing light painting. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to repair and restore wood and stucco surfaces, helping to ensure the property remains safe, attractive, and well-maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Patch and repair exterior stucco surfaces on residential buildings to restore structural integrity and appearance.

  • Remove and replace damaged or deteriorated exterior wood components, such as trim, fascia, or other wood elements, as needed.

  • Perform light painting tasks, including surface preparation, priming, and finish painting on repaired areas.

  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for wood and stucco repairs, including cutting, fastening, sanding, and finishing.

  • Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure proper fit and alignment of wood components.

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and masking as necessary to achieve a clean, even finish.

  • Perform rough carpentry tasks, including basic framing or structural repairs related to exterior wood elements.

  • Apply finish carpentry skills to ensure repaired wood and stucco areas are neat, aligned, and visually consistent with existing structures.

  • Handle cabinetry-related tasks when required, such as adjusting or repairing exterior-facing cabinetry components.

  • Maintain and transport personal wood and stucco tools, ensuring they are in safe working condition and readily available on site.

  • Work collaboratively in a two-person team to refurbish vacant apartments and associated exterior areas efficiently and safely.

  • Follow safety procedures and site guidelines while working on ladders, scaffolding, or other access equipment as needed for exterior work.

  • Communicate progress, issues, and material needs clearly to team members and supervisors to keep projects on schedule.

Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with stucco repair and patching on exterior surfaces.

  • Carpentry skills, including both rough and finish carpentry for exterior wood repairs and replacements.

  • Proficiency using hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, chisels, and tape measures for construction and repair tasks.

  • Proficiency using power tools, including saws, drills, sanders, and other equipment required for wood and stucco work.

  • Experience performing wood and stucco repairs, including identifying damage and executing appropriate repair methods.

  • Ability to perform paint preparation, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, and masking surfaces prior to painting.

  • Capability to perform light painting work on exterior surfaces and repaired areas.

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and fitting materials.

  • Willingness to learn new techniques and processes related to exterior refurbishment work.

  • Consistently positive attitude and cooperative approach to working in a team environment.

  • Ability to bring and use personal wood and stucco tools required for day-to-day tasks.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with cabinetry work, particularly where it relates to exterior-facing components, is a plus.

  • Prior experience refurbishing residential properties or apartment complexes is beneficial.

  • Comfort working with both wood and stucco materials in a variety of exterior repair scenarios.

  • Openness to training and skill development across multiple trades, including carpentry, stucco repair, and painting.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure repairs blend seamlessly with existing structures and finishes.

  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality, especially for set shift hours.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adapt to changing project needs.
