Enrolled Agent Tax & IRS Representation

Accountants Group is a boutique tax and accounting firm in Buffalo Grove, IL that has served individuals and small businesses across the nation since 1993. We're small on purpose, with clients who stay with us for decades — and we're now modernizing top to bottom: a modern tax stack, real automation, and sane busy seasons, run by partners who treat the firm as a growing business, not a billable-hour treadmill.

You'd join at the inflection point and help shape the modern firm we're building.

• Prepare individual, business, and trust returns (1040, 1120/1120-S, 1065, 1041).
• Handle IRS notices, examinations, and resolution matters; represent clients before the IRS — this is real representation work, not occasional letter-writing.
• Own a portfolio of recurring clients: planning conversations, entity questions, year-end strategy.
• Partner with bookkeeping/staff on clean work papers and timely filings.

• Active EA designation.
• 3+ years of hands-on tax preparation and/or IRS representation.
• Comfort with tax software (e.g., Ultra Tax, Lacerte, Drake, or Pro Connect) and cloud workflows.
• Tech-forward and curious about how automation and AI change the work — neither hyped nor scared.
• Clear client communication and the judgment to own your work without being managed through check-ins.

Hybrid role - we expect you to be at least 3 days per week in our Buffalo Grove, IL office.
