Assignment10‑month, temporary & grant‑funded effective August 10, 2026. Contract may be renewed annually pending grant funding.
General ResponsibilitiesThis role involves close interaction with staff, students, and parents/guardians, with primary emphasis on the implementation of specialized educational programs. It requires the ability to react appropriately in crisis situations and exhibit initiative and creativity. The position works within established systems, must demonstrate organizational skills, independent judgment, and confidentiality, and embrace a collaborative team approach to accomplish the district’s mission.
Qualifications- Must have or obtain State and NCLB Approved Paraprofessional designation in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education requirements.
- Must have physical ability to lift or move supplies, materials, and office equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Must sit at a workstation for extended periods and/or move frequently from workstation to various areas of the building.
- Must organize and prioritize workflow.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers, office practices, procedures, and office equipment.
- Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff, and parents, and exhibit a positive employee attitude.
- Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors, and the general public.
- Must have awareness of a variety of student needs, including physical and social‑emotional needs.
- Should possess strong English language skills in composition, literature, reading, and/or general studies.
Assisting students in the classroom under the direction of certified staff, including:
- Providing individualized or group instruction.
- Monitoring students’ work in and out of the classroom.
- Explaining written or verbal instructions.
- Helping students understand cultural differences.
Assisting certified staff, including:
- Providing translation of classroom material.
- Monitoring and administering assessments as needed.
- Implementing all appropriate school technology to support staff and students.
- Reviewing student information systems including attendance/IEP/504 and appropriate health information.
- Supporting and supervising students during non‑academic settings.
Serving as a liaison for the EL team, including:
- Interpreting for non‑English speaking parents.
- Working with staff to help understand cultural differences.
- Providing translation of printed material.
