Automation Engineer - PLC

Automation Engineer for a new, state‑of‑the‑art medical device manufacturing plant in Libertyville, IL (direct hire). This is a greenfield opportunity to help launch and optimize high‑speed automated production systems ahead of full production later this year.

The role focuses on high‑speed assembly automation (100–200+ ppm), including rotary/indexing and cam‑driven systems, with hands‑on work in PLCs, robotics, controls, and vision systems (Keyence/Cognex). Responsibilities include system integration, commissioning, troubleshooting across mechanical/electrical/controls, and performance optimization of advanced manufacturing equipment.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with high‑speed automated equipment
• Support and optimize injection molding machines and integrated automation cells
• Program and maintain PLC and HMI systems
• Drive improvements in system performance, uptime, and product quality
• Partner with production and maintenance teams on root cause analysis
• Assist with new equipment installation and system integration
