Purpose
Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes by providing technical support in the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing systems per project requirements.
Principal Responsibilities- Define and implement manufacturing systems appropriate for customer applications.
- Support manufacturing KPIs such as OEE, Yield, Scrap and Downtime.
- Establish and improve robust, repeatable, and reproducible process parameters.
- Capability to independently or together with other engineering stakeholders identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process.
- Advanced troubleshooting of complex mechanical issues with high-speed automated manufacturing equipment.
- Provide equipment maintenance and repair support as required.
- Understanding the manufacturing process, technologies, techniques, and the product.
- Support creation and implementation of engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Develop, implement, and take ownership of process control methodologies.
- Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
- Implement statistical process analysis on new and existing products.
- Develop and maintain process documentation.
- Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel.
- Define, implement, and evaluate proposed design updates and processes.
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
Create work instructions and coordinate training for facilities and production personnel. - Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements and workflow, design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for implementation of manufacturing systems.
- Coordinate/participate in pFMEA of manufacturing processes.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Work with technicians to identify and troubleshoot issues with equipment.
- Create work instructions that address known issues – train technicians.
- Review PM content and frequency and align with known issues to improve performance and reduce downtime.
- Develop machine improvements that will improve long term performance.
- Develop setup tools to improve SKU changeover times - train technicians.
- B.S. in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in high-speed, automated manufacturing environments in any of these types of industries: e.g. Medical Devices, Automotive;
Defense/Aerospace, Pharmaceutical, and/or Food & Beverage. - Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing high-speed automated assembly equipment, which includes pneumatics, hydraulics, solenoids, and cylinders.
- Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools - robotics, Vision (e.g. Cognex, Keyence), material handling/part feeding systems, conveyors, ultrasonic welding, foil sealing, HMI/PLC controls.
