CNC Machine Set-Up Operator
Now hiring CNC Machine Set-Up Operator for Wabtec! Buffalo Grove, IL Pay rate: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour Shift: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, Mon – Fri (potential for 2nd shift availability)

On the job set up and operate VMCs, HMCs, TMCs, CO2 lasers, fiber lasers, break presses, and/or robotic welders
Perform light program edits on mills, lathes, lasers, or robotic welders, including tool offsets, reference points, and conditional switches
Maintain quality by observing drilling, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations
Troubleshoot processes, detect malfunctions, and replace or sharpen worn tools
Plan machining by interpreting work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and GD&T specifications
Verify machine settings and first-run parts using precision measuring tools like micrometers and calipers
Document production and quality activities to maintain continuity across shifts
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
Follow safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and uphold 5S standards
Participate in ongoing learning to stay updated on technical publications and new machining techniques

What gets you in the door
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 6–12 months related experience
Proficient in reading blueprints, engineering plans, and GD&T
Ability to operate multiple types of CNC machines and equipment
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Basic math, geometry, and simple trigonometry skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Commitment to safety and quality standards
