Automation Project Engineer

$60–70/hr | Long-Term Contract through Q1 2027

We're partnering with a global medical device manufacturer that is investing in the automation of its production operations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the implementation of a new assembly line as the organization transitions from manual assembly to a highly automated manufacturing process.

As the Assembly Project Leader, you'll serve as the primary point of contact with the equipment OEM, driving the project from machine design through factory acceptance testing (FAT), installation, qualification, and production ramp-up. You'll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and operations to ensure the successful delivery of a complex automation system.

• Manage delivery of a custom assembly system from design through production launch
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing teams
• Support design reviews, equipment layout, and process improvements
• Lead FAT, installation, startup, and production ramp-up activities
• Track project schedules, milestones, risks, and deliverables

• Experience leading custom automation or capital equipment projects
• Background working with OEMs, system integrators, or automated manufacturing equipment
• Hands‑on understanding of machine builds, assembly systems, and manufacturing processes
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Proficient with Excel and comfortable managing multiple priorities
• Experience in medical device or another regulated manufacturing environment is preferred

This is an immediate need for a highly visible project with a collaborative engineering team. The role offers a hybrid schedule with time spent at the Buffalo Grove and Chicago facility, the OEM partner site in Bartlett, IL, and remote when project activities allow.
