Automation Technician

Automation Technician (Direct Hire) – Buffalo Grove, IL

Pay: $25 - $28 per hour

Schedule:

12-hour rotating shifts (day or night) + shift differential and quarterly bonus opportunities

We are hiring a hands‑on Production Automation Technician to support and maintain automated manufacturing systems in a fast‑paced production environment. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for candidates with a 2-year technical degree in mechatronics, automation, industrial maintenance, or a related field and experience working with automated equipment.

• Troubleshoot and repair automated production equipment, including conveyors, robotics, and packaging systems
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability
• Diagnose mechanical issues such as misalignment, wear, and jams
• Support PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens); reading programs required, editing is a plus
• Work with pneumatic systems (cylinders, valves, actuators)
• Inspect equipment, complete repairs, and document maintenance activities
• Partner with engineering and production teams to improve system performance
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and restore operations

• Associate degree or technical training in automation, mechatronics, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience with automated manufacturing equipment
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
• Experience with conveyors, motors, sensors, or robotics preferred
