POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Teaching & Learning provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the district's educational programs. This role is responsible for ensuring academic excellence through the supervision of K-12 principals, the management of curriculum cycles, and the implementation of comprehensive professional development and student intervention systems.

ISD 877 is a 45-minute drive northwest of the Twin Cities with approximately 5,000 students district wide attend 6 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, 1 alternative high school and 1 transitions program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

K-12 Continuous Improvement Process

* Oversee the improvement cycle for K-12 curriculum and instructional resources.

* Directs the integration of state and local academic content standards into the K-12 Continuous Improvement Process.

* Directs various committees related to the K-12 Continuous Improvement Process.

* Oversee state and local testing, including required screening assessments, Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs), ACT testing, and local classroom assessments.

* Develop the Comprehensive Achievement & Civic Readiness Plan and lead strategic planning efforts around student achievement.

* Assures compliance with all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations and enforces district policies related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Leadership and Principal Supervision

* Supervises, directs, and evaluates K-12 principals.

* Provide oversight for the K-12 licensed staffing process.

* Coordinates, allocates, and monitors departments, categorical, and grant budgets.

Professional Development and Teacher Induction

* Coordinate district professional development opportunities.

* Oversee the Program for Professional Development (PPD).

* Manage the Teacher Induction Program (TIP).

Specialized Programming and Interventions

* Administer the ESEA Consolidated Grant, including Title IA and Title IIA funds.

* Provide leadership for Quest programming for highly gifted students and NWSISD programming.

* Maintain MDE compliance and documentation for homeschool families.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education/Certification/Licensure Requirement:

* Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Administration.

* Valid MN Teacher and Administrative Licensure.

Experience:

* Previous administrative experience in public schools including experience in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and administrative supervision preferred.
