Job Summary
Assists the classroom teacher, under supervisory direction, with instructional tasks by working directly and indirectly with students. Provides resources and services to facilitate and support the instructional program. Supervises students in small and large group settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- 80% Direct Student Support and Supervision Works directly with students, individually or in small groups, on academic instructional skills. Provides for small-group instruction, in conjunction with teacher-prepared lesson plans. Administers make-up tests and lessons to students. Supports individualized student instructional and behavioral plans. Assist students with use of computers and other technology. Supervises students in individual, small group, and large groups settings including lunch, recess, passing time, before/after school.
Assists with responses to student behavior. - 15% Classroom Support Collaborates and communicates with classroom teacher to support instruction. Reviews lesson plans assists with preparation of instructional tools and materials. Assist in creating and maintaining a positive learning environment. Promotes inclusion and social interaction among all students. Assist in collecting data related to individual student education and/or behavior plans.
- 5% Professional Development and Support Attends meetings and training as assigned. May provide support for other ESP positions. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Job Summary
Under the direction the Building Principal maintain the operations of the media center and facilitating the use of media materials, technology, and equipment by staff and students. Assists with academic and supervisory tasks by working directly and indirectly with students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- 70% Direct Student and Staff Support Monitors and supervise students in the media center in individual, small group, and large groups settings. Assist students and staff with selection of media materials. Supports individualized student instructional and behavioral plans. Assist students with use of computers and other media center equipment. May assist with assembly and collection of materials needed for class projects.
- 25% Media Support Process library materials including cataloging, labeling, and shelving. Assist with managing the operation of the media center electronic database systems. Ensures daily set up of all computers and technology in media center Maintains and observes media schedule for building Assist in ordering media center supplies.
- 5% Professional Development and Support Attends meetings and training as assigned. May provide support for other ESP positions. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Education/Certification/Licensure Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Complete Personal Care Assistance Training prior to working with students. Additional training with District Nurse may be required prior to the start of position. Ability to pass Para educator Assessment (may be substituted with completion of two years of college/AA degree or three years of experience as ESP with completion of required professional development).
Previous experience in school/students preferred.

Intermediate office equipment knowledge. Intermediate internet knowledge. Intermediate reading and writing skills. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Organizational and time management skills including the ability to meet deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Operates office equipment including computer, phone system, laminator, copier, scanner and calculator. Operates media center software program.
Supervision of Other EmployeesThis position does not provide supervision or work direction to any other District employees. The position may assist in training others. Ability and willingness to cross train and cover other ESP positions.
PhysicalJob Requirements
Position involves extended periods of time on feet. Position involves occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Position involves listening, speaking clearly and visual acuity.
