Job Overview:The Engineering Technician supports the engineering department by assisting with product and process development, design documentation, and prototyping, while also operating and programming laser cutting equipment to support production and engineering needs. This dual-function role bridges hands-on manufacturing floor work with engineering support activities, requiring both technical aptitude and precision machine operation skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist engineers with the design, development, and testing of new and existing products, tooling, and fixtures.
- Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation using CAD software.
- Program, set up, and operate laser cutting equipment to produce parts and prototypes according to specifications.
- Develop and optimize laser cutting programs to improve cycle time, material utilization, and part quality.
- Troubleshoot laser equipment issues, perform routine maintenance, and coordinate repairs with maintenance or outside vendors as needed.
- Support new product introductions by building and testing prototypes and providing feedback to the engineering team.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action for engineering and production quality issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure parts meet design requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of laser programs, job setups, and material usage.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes and laser cutting operations.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and improve workflow.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with company policy.
