Work Shift:

Day Shift (Monday‑Friday). Summer hours: 6:30 am‑5:00 pm;
Winter hours: 7:00 am‑3:30 pm. Overtime and other shifts may be required.

Salary Range: $25.19 – $31.60 per hour ($52,596 – $65,980 annually)

• Maintain and reconstruct roadways, rights‑of‑way, and roadside surfaces, including gravel, bituminous, and concrete.
• Maintain traffic barriers, guardrails, and roadside catch basins.
• Repair culverts and conduct preventive maintenance on highway equipment.
• Operate tractor mowers, small rollers, and other equipment as needed.
• Set up traffic control in high‑volume traffic in accordance with Temporary Traffic Zone Layouts.
• Perform landscaping duties such as tree, grass, shrub, brush removal, and proper disposal.
• Conduct snow and ice control work, including wall clearing, pavement clearance, and route inspections.
• Operate and maintain snowplow equipment, cutting edges, sanders, and other winter tools.
• Apply anti‑icing and de‑icing chemicals and maintain related documentation.
• Perform post‑storm cleanup on bridges, guardrails, sidewalks, and other assets.
• Report inventory and resource data accurately.
• Respond within one hour of work call.

• One year of experience in snow & ice, road‑surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, sign maintenance, or related activities.
• Or a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (≥60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits). Transcripts required.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no air‑brake restriction and tanker endorsement.
• Working knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to read, write, and maintain routine logs and records.

All eligible applicants will be invited to take a computerized Math and Reading Assessment Test. Passing scores:
Level 3 or higher on Math, Level 4 or higher on Reading. Acceptance of the offer is contingent upon passing.

• Pass a background investigation, including SEMA4, criminal history, employment reference, education/license verification, and driver’s license check.
• Valid Class A CDL and federal drug screen before employment.

• Prior MnDOT experience as a Laborer, Transportation Associate, or Transportation Generalist.
