Accounts Payable Specialist

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible to fulfill customer service needs, compile & process AP requests, and maintain accurate records according to GAAP guidelines.

• Prioritize and follow up to emails, phone calls, and voicemails from internal and external customers in a professional and timely manner.
• Reconcile monthly payables statements and related transactions for month end close.
• Facilitate payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal , reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
• Verify outstanding payment for endorsed checks, reissuing payments, and submit stoppayment, if applicable.
• Prepare and post invoices, monthly expenses, and internal expense reports.
• Process and follow up on rush items with thoroughness and accuracy.
• Coordinate with AP personnel for check payments, mails, and resending returned items.
• Work with other internal teams for special invoices and requisitions for goods and services.
• Verify transactions and comply with financial policies and procedures.
• Build relationships with freight broker agents and carrier partners.
• Manage adhoc projects assigned by management.
• Assist with coverage of absent teammates, as needed.

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field or CAPP certification is preferred.
• 2+ years of hands on experience within Accounting.
• Eye for details and accuracy is imperative.
• Extreme multitasking ability and sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality with accounting information.
• Effective communication skills and strong positive customer service ability.
• Skilled in Great Plains Dynamics is a plus with experience in the transportation/logistic industry.
