Accounts Payable Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Buffalo, NY. This onsite role is ideal for a detail-oriented AP leader who thrives in a high-volume nonprofit accounting environment and enjoys building strong processes, supporting a team, and ensuring accurate financial operations.

The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee daily AP activity, vendor payments, compliance requirements, reconciliations, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, employee reimbursements, payment approvals, and check runs.
- Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate AP staff to support accuracy, accountability, and professional development.
- Review and approve AP batches, reconciliations, journal entries, vendor records, and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, grant requirements, IRS regulations, 1099 reporting, GAAP, and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Maintain strong internal controls, identify process improvements, and support system enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Oversee vendor relationships, resolve payment discrepancies, and ensure timely, accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $75,000 to $80,000 per year.
