Director of Finance Overview

Staff Buffalo is working with a well-established healthcare organization to hire a Director of Finance. This is a hands‑on financial leadership role overseeing the full financial picture of a multi‑practice organization. This role is ideal for someone who understands the complexity of healthcare finance, enjoys partnering with leadership, and can translate financial results into clear, actionable insight.

The Director of Finance will manage accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, cash management, and month‑end close while working closely with the CEO, external CPA, billing leadership, and a small accounting team. This person will be expected to identify trends, explain variances, and bring thoughtful recommendations when financial performance shifts.

This is a full‑time, on‑site position in Williamsville, offering a calm corporate office environment, strong work‑life balance, and flexibility within a standard Monday through Friday schedule. The organization values long‑term commitment, professional development, transparency, and a collaborative culture where the team works hard and enjoys working together.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall financial oversight for the organization, including accounting operations, reporting, budgeting, cash management, and financial controls
  • Lead month‑end and year‑end close; prepare financial statements and coordinate with the external CPA on reviews, tax filings, and related financial matters
  • Manage reconciliations, bank activity, accounts payable oversight, invoicing, cash receipts, and accounting accuracy across multiple practice locations
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop budgets, analyze variances, track performance, and clearly explain financial results, trends, risks, and recommended action plans
  • Collaborate closely with billing and operations leaders to understand revenue, reimbursements, incentive payments, government payments, productivity, and healthcare‑specific financial drivers
  • Supervise and support two accounting team members while maintaining strong internal controls, accountability, and process consistency
  • Participate in occasional committee or board‑related meetings and provide clear financial updates to leadership and stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Master’s Degree or CPA strongly preferred
  • Five or more years of progressive financial or accounting management experience, including leadership‑level responsibility
  • Healthcare finance experience strongly preferred, especially within a hospital, physician practice, or private medical practice environment
  • Strong experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, month‑end close, budgeting, variance analysis, and internal controls
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly, including delivering difficult news with context, confidence, and a practical plan
  • Experience with Quick Books Online preferred; familiarity with EMR systems, Medent, RVUs, incentive payments, or healthcare reimbursement models is helpful
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range of $120,000-$150,000 based on experience
  • Year‑end bonus potential based on company performance
  • Strong work‑life balance with a flexible Monday through Friday schedule
  • Supportive, tight‑knit corporate office culture with a laid‑back, business casual environment
  • Professional development support, including conference involvement and CPA dues when applicable
  • Long‑term leadership opportunity with direct access to executive leadership

Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 per year
