Finance Director

About the Company: Our client is an established transportation, warehousing, and logistics organization headquartered in Buffalo, NY.

About the Job: Our client is hiring a Director of Finance to lead the accounting and finance function across multiple operating companies, real estate entities, and business divisions. This is a hands-on leadership role working directly with ownership while overseeing a small accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities, locations, and profit centers.
• Oversee month-end/year-end close, financial statements, P&Ls, balance sheets, and accounting controls.
• Manage core accounting functions including AP, AR, billing, and billing accuracy.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and improve processes, reporting, controls, and efficiency.
• Partner with ownership and operational leaders to understand business performance and support decision-making.
• Manage relationships with outside accounting, tax, banking, HR, and other financial partners.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
• Strong technical accounting background with experience in financial reporting, month-end close, and general accounting.
• Experience managing financials across multiple entities, locations, business units, or profit centers.
• Hands-on leadership style with strong analytical and communication skills.
• Transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution, or similar service-industry experience preferred.
• Previous people-management experience preferred.

Salary: $110,000–$125,000

Status: Full-time, direct hire. Onsite in Buffalo, NY.
