Job Description

The eGRC Product Owner I is responsible for ensuring that a development team (pod) creates value for the organization through the delivery of stakeholder-focused product increments. This involves aligning with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, maintaining a prioritized product backlog, managing delivery blockers, and continuously assessing stakeholder feedback. The role requires maximizing value and continuously improving the product and delivery process while fostering a positive work environment and adhering to Agile principles of transparency, collaboration, and engagement.

  • Key subject matter expert requiring substantial knowledge in a complex field and broader related areas.
  • Accountable for specialized product development support based on sound product expertise and knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes, roles, and practices.
  • Integrates enterprise sub‑function strategy to develop solutions across multiple functions.
  • Interprets business challenges and industry environment, recommending best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
  • Leads cross‑function integration within the field of specialty and complex projects.
  • Solves complex problems or leads efforts to develop new solutions.
  • Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify solutions.
  • Impacts achievement of sub‑function or business line objectives within accountable area.
  • Communicates difficult concepts, converts information to compelling business context, and influences alignment across senior stakeholders.
  • Works autonomously and guides others within area of expertise.
Education & Experience
  • Undergraduate degree and/or product certificate.
  • 7+ years relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years Product Owner or Agile related delivery experience.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications or experience in scaled agile delivery considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in eGRC / Non‑Financial Risk Product Management at a large Financial Institution or G‑SIB, supporting one or more of the following programs:

  • Issue Management
  • Incident/Event Management
  • RCSA
  • Business Continuity Management
  • Operational Resilience
  • Compliance Risk Assessment
  • Laws, Rules, Regulations Management / Regulatory Change Management
  • Policy Management
  • Monitoring and Testing
  • Product / Service Risk Management
  • AML Risk Assessment
  • Exam Management
Customer Accountabilities
  • Partner with senior management to support the delivery of a product vision.
  • Create and maintain a product backlog, continuously re‑prioritizing user stories for maximum customer value.
  • Align with senior management on product delivery roadmap, MMPs or MVPs, and release cadence.
  • Review performance analytics; recommend strategies to enhance customer experience.
  • Participate in scrum or Kanban events, propose ideas to improve value or efficiency, and share with leadership.
  • Proactively engage business process partners to prepare customers for application changes and establish Day 2 processes.
  • Create a value‑focused backlog and iterate, ensuring user stories are scoped and prioritized.
  • Provide oversight of user story development and completion, accepting/rejecting based on Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Manage delivery initiatives and oversee multiple development team backlogs when complexity requires.
  • Raise issues that impede efficient delivery of customer‑focused increments.
  • Responsible for defect management and prioritization.
Shareholder Accountabilities
  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies relevant to the business area.
  • Ensure ongoing strategic alignment with senior management, providing feedback as appropriate.
  • Consider team and stakeholder feedback in backlog management, facilitating balanced discussions.
