Are you ready to join a growing team?
CTG is seeking to fill a Business Architect opening for our client.
Location :
Buffalo, NY (Preferred) / Remote. Candidates must be willing to travel to Buffalo, NY every 4-6 weeks and work onsite Monday through Thursday during those visits. Eastern or Central time zone preferred.
Duration : 6 months, with potential for contract-to-hire based on performance
Primary Responsibilities:
Define and evolve the enterprise business architecture to align business strategy, operating models, and execution.
Translate business strategy into capability models, value streams, target-state architectures, and initiative roadmaps.
Develop and maintain business capability maps, value stream maps, operating models, and other business architecture artifacts.
Define current-state and target-state business architectures and identify gaps between them.
Identify capability gaps and provide recommendations for prioritizing investments based on business value.
Support portfolio planning, initiative prioritization, and business case development.
Analyze business processes, organizational structures, and supporting systems to identify opportunities for improvement and transformation.
Define business-driven requirements for strategic transformation initiatives.
Partner with executives, product teams, Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, and delivery teams.
Facilitate alignment and decision-making across business and technology stakeholders.
Establish and promote business architecture standards, practices, and governance.
Ensure traceability from business strategy through capabilities, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.
Collaborate with Enterprise, Solution, and Data Architects to ensure business intent is reflected in technology and solution decisions.
Produce executive-ready models, presentations, roadmaps, and strategic artifacts.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Develop L1-L3 business capability maps, including ownership and maturity assessments.
Create value stream maps connected to customer journeys and desired business outcomes.
Develop current-state and target-state business architecture views.
Create business architecture roadmaps aligned with strategic objectives and investment plans.
Conduct capability heatmaps, gap analyses, and business impact assessments.
Provide business architecture input into enterprise roadmaps and portfolio decisions.
Establish traceability from strategy to capabilities, initiatives, and outcomes.
Apply business architecture frameworks and best practices, including BIZBOK and/or BIAN where applicable.
Support business transformation and operating model design across complex enterprise environments.
Provide clear, actionable recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.
Influence and facilitate decision-making across cross-functional teams and complex organizational structures.
Lead workshops and working sessions with business and technology stakeholders.
Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to project, product, architecture, and delivery teams.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in business architecture, enterprise strategy, business transformation, management consulting, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated hands‑on experience developing business architecture artifacts, including capability maps, value streams, operating models, and current/target‑state models.
Strong strategic thinking, systems thinking, and enterprise analysis skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience communicating with executive‑level stakeholders.
Proven ability to facilitate alignment and influence decisions across business and technology organizations without direct authority.
Experience working within large, complex enterprise environments.
