We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to lead field operations on a U.S. Coast Guard stone revetment installation project in Buffalo, NY.
About the ProjectThis contract involves installing a multi-layer stone revetment and wave attenuation system along multiple bulkhead faces of a USCG basin. Work includes geotextile fabric placement, bedding and filter layer installation, graded riprap placement, intermediate stone layering, and two-ton armor stone installation — all executed to strict US Army Corps of Engineers material and placement specifications. The project requires close coordination with the Contracting Officer's Representative, quarry operations oversight, and management of heavy marine/civil equipment operations.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Serve as the on-site field leader responsible for safety, quality, schedule, and production.
- Direct daily operations, including stone placement sequencing (bedding, filter, riprap, intermediate, and armor stone layers), geotextile installation, and slope grading to tight tolerances.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, material deliveries, and heavy equipment (excavators with grapple attachments, cranes, haul trucks).
- Oversee quarry coordination, including stone gradation testing, curing timelines, and material acceptance/rejection in accordance with ASTM standards.
- Lead the required demonstration section process and coordinate with the COR for approval prior to full production.
- Maintain project documentation, daily reports, quality control records, and three-phase inspection logs per USACE/USCG standards.
- Enforce site safety and environmental compliance throughout all phases of work.
- 5+ years of field superintendent experience on heavy civil, marine, or coastal construction projects — stone revetment, riprap, shoreline protection, or breakwater work strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working on federal construction contracts (USACE, NAVFAC, USCG, or similar).
- Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers quality management systems, three-phase inspection processes, and COR coordination.
- Working knowledge of stone material specifications, gradation testing (ASTM C136, D5312, C295, etc.), and quarry operations.
- Ability to read and execute civil/marine construction drawings with precision.
- OSHA 30‑Hour and EM 385‑1‑1 certification required.
- Strong leadership presence — you run the site, solve problems in real time, and hold the team to a high standard.
- Willingness to be on‑site in Buffalo, NY for the duration of the project (May 2026 - September 2026).
- Experience with geotextile and filter layer systems.
- Prior work in Great Lakes or cold‑weather marine environments.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
- Project‑based travel and living allowance.
- Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance.
- 401(k) Retirement Program with employer match.
- A company culture built on service, accountability, and doing things the right way.
- Career advancement through our Center of Professional Development.
