Gilbane seeks a Superintendent to independently supervise an area of trade contractors with work valued up to $30M. This position requires daily on‑site presence and will play a key role on the project team.

Responsibilities
  • Direct day‑to‑day coordination of Gilbane’s trade partners and sub‑contractors to ensure high‑quality work meeting the approved project schedule.
  • Develop, document, and communicate the work plan regarding changes made in the field.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to proactively anticipate potential problems.
  • Participate in constructability review and identify change impacts.
  • Obtain or verify that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes.
  • Act as primary safety representative in the field.
  • Establish credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other partners by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment.
  • Lead contractor meetings regularly.
  • Maintain daily reports and documentation using software tools.
  • Create, manage, and update the project schedule, implementing contingency plans when necessary.
  • Communicate schedule status, updates, and changes to the project team and trade contractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage jobsite logistics.
  • Oversee project quality plan, complete inspections, and implement necessary changes.
  • Communicate with Site Services/Next 150 to order materials and schedule crew.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced Field Engineers on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen.
  • Understand scopes of work; assist in writing scopes and participate in buyout.
  • Assist in Time and Materials (T&M) tracking.
  • Lead stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre‑task plan reviews.
  • Support a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions.
Experience / Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 4–8 years of experience on $15–30 million or larger commercial/industrial construction projects in a superintendent role.
  • OSHA 30‑hour certification.
  • STS‑C certification.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate daily with the project team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of construction software tools, including scheduling software.
  • Construction‑document and drawing literacy, with knowledge of all phases of construction.
  • Experience and proficiency in multiple divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan.
