Who We Are

Primary Hall Preparatory Charter School (PHPCS) was founded to provide the students and families on the East Side of Buffalo access to quality education. At the core of our mission is the inclusion of individualized support for all students. Our school provides tailored foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and character development that will equip all of our students for academic and personal success throughout their educational careers and beyond.

An Elementary Teacher with Primary Hall is responsible for providing foundational education to students and contributing to the development and implementation of foundational educational programs. This role involves creating a positive and engaging classroom environment, designing curriculum, and shaping the culture of the school from its inception. The role involves creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment, fostering the development of fundamental skills, and promoting social and emotional growth.

Additionally, the ability to integrate technology into instruction and a commitment to fostering a love of learning are often valued traits for elementary teachers. You are charged with ensuring that each Primary Hall student is educated in a rigorous and joyful learning environment. With a team of like‑minded educators, you will be supported to provide high quality instruction and grow as a teacher and leader.

• Uses data to drive instruction by regularly analyzing data, studying student work, and implementing the highest leverage instructional strategies to maximize student achievement.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative elementary curriculum in alignment with educational standards.
• Create and adapt instructional materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Manage student behavioral effectively and promote a culture of respect and cooperation.
• Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction to address the diverse learning needs of students.
• Focus on building foundational skills in literacy (reading, writing, speaking) and numeracy (mathematics).
• Regularly implements feedback with grace and urgency and with students' achievement at the forefront.
• Upholds a values‑based approach to maintain a positive culture among students and staff.
• Builds strong relationships with parents and students, driving investment in school culture and academics.
• Implements academic interventions for students that are tailored specifically to their needs to increase student achievement.
• Implements behavioral interventions for students to increase learning time and decrease time spent out of the classroom.
• Participates and engages in individual coaching meetings, Professional Development, and Summer Professional Development with a positive attitude and growth mindset.
• Create and foster a positive, safe learning environment.
• Enforce school policies and maintain discipline in accordance with the school's guidelines.
• Perform administrative tasks as required such as attendance, grades, and reports.
• Provide assistance and support to students in understanding the subject matter.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
• Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
• Supervise students during class and other activities to ensure their safety and well‑being.
• Foster a positive and supportive classroom culture that promotes social and emotional development.
• Monitor behavior and address any issues that may arise among students.
• Uphold a high level of professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and parents.
