Hours:As needed to fill in for our regular instructors, also some opportunities to teach for our offsite programs with our community partners. Must have some weekend availability.
Compensation:$20.00 per hour
Description:
The Substitute Instructor will be asked to fill in for the following classes at LSA:
Children's Drawing & Painting, Teen/Adult Drawing & Painting, and Handbuilding Ceramics. We also may offer hours working in our Offsite Programming which are classes we hold in places like community centers, schools, correctional facilities etc... The instructor would be given lesson plans and supplies and drive to the offsite location to teach.
Skills in photography or animation are also desirable but not required. Some training is available.

- Skills and Qualifications
- Basic handbuilding and sculpture with ceramic clay
- Intermediate drawing and painting
- Knowledge and skills in multiple artistic disciplines is a plus
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances
- Demonstrated good management skills of studio classes
- Commitment to working in nontraditional settings
- Ability to work comfortably with different age groups and diverse student populations
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in a visual art medium OR relevant professional experience
- Experience teaching small groups preferred but not necessary
- Reliable transportation
- Responsibilities and Duties
- Support each student in developing artistic skills and vision while challenging them to progress technically and aesthetically
- Assist students in their medium
- Instruct a project based or student led curriculum
- Setup and cleanup classroom spaces as necessary
- Represent Locust Street Art while working in the community, at events, or in presentations for local community partners
