The Director of Teaching & Learning provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the district’s educational programs. This role is responsible for ensuring academic excellence through the supervision of K-12 principals, the management of curriculum cycles, and the implementation of comprehensive professional development and student intervention systems.
ISD 877 is a 45-minute drive northwest of the Twin Cities with approximately 4,899 students district wide attend 6 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, 1 alternative high school and 1 transitions program.

- Oversee the improvement cycle for K-12 curriculum and instructional resources.
- Directs the integration of state and local academic content standards into the K-12 Continuous Improvement Process.
- Directs various committees related to the K-12 Continuous Improvement Process.
- Oversee state and local testing, including required screening assessments, Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs), ACT testing, and local classroom assessments.
- Develop the Comprehensive Achievement & Civic Readiness Plan and lead strategic planning efforts around student achievement.
- Assures compliance with all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations and enforces district policies related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates K-12 principals.
- Provide oversight for the K-12 licensed staffing process.
- Coordinates, allocates, and monitors departments, categorical, and grant budgets.
- Coordinate district professional development opportunities.
- Oversee the Program for Professional Development (PPD).
- Manage the Teacher Induction Program (TIP).
- Administer the ESEA Consolidated Grant, including Title IA and Title IIA funds.
- Provide leadership for Quest programming for highly gifted students and NWSISD programming.
- Maintain MDE compliance and documentation for homeschool families.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
